Air conditioning
The villa is now air conditioned with reversible cooling / heating units installed in all bedrooms and the living area.

New pool liner
We have recently refurbished the pool and installed a new pool liner and replaced the surrounding coping stones.

4* Classification
In June 2019 the villa was inspected in order to be classified as a "Meuble de Tourisme". The villa was awarded 4* with a score of 98%. Had the villa been equipped with a tumble dryer and had the main bedroom lights been operable from the beds it would have achieved a 100% score! The sun is usually pretty good for drying washing (and more environmentally friendly!) and there are two bedside lights in each bedroom so we think it's pretty much a perfect score! Flight schedule

Local management
After eight years Jeff and Lin are retiring so that they, too, can have a summer holiday! We are delighted to be able to introduce to our guests Rob and Yvonne who will, in future, be looking after the villa and pool.

We can now configure bedroom two as either two single beds or a king size bed. Please let us know when you book how you would like it made up.

A new fridge / freezer
We have now got a large American style fridge freezer which is plumbed in to provide a ready supply of ice and chilled water. This is in addition to the second fridge we have in the pool room which is so useful for keeping additional drinks and those smelly French cheeses.

Tour de France
The Tour de France route for 2018 has recently been published. Carcassonne (less than an hour away from the villa) is the destination for stage 15 on Sunday 22nd July. Monday 23rd July is a rest day in Carcassonne before the riders set out again on Tuesday 24th July on stage 16 for Bagneres-de-Luchon in the Pyrenees. There will, therefore, be plenty of opportunities to get caught up in the excitement of the race! We would recommend finding a vantage point where the riders are travelling uphill so that they don’t go by quite so fast!
Airline routes to the Languedoc
We have recently updated our list of all the airline routes from the UK and Ireland that fly to the seven airports that are all within easy reach of Villa Mimarmel. Please click here to go to the list. Even if you aren’t staying with us the list is very useful!
Girona Airport
After falling out of favour with Ryan Air Girona airport is now well served again by flights from all over the UK and Ireland. Whilst Girona is one of the furthest of our suggested airports it does have the advantage of potentially enabling guests to hire cars at a cheaper rate than is sometimes possible in France even allowing for the additional fee charged for cross border travel. If flight times work stop off for a meal in Collioure!
StaySavr
If, like us, you like to speak to a property owner before booking a property you will probably be aware that Owners Direct / HomeAway have now removed owners’ contact details from their websites. This is all to do with forcing guests to book and pay via the Owners Direct website and take a hefty service charge in the process. Some very clever chap has managed to produce a simple program whereby if you copy and paste the property’s URL into a box on their website you can find the owner’s contact details and make direct contact. Brilliant! Try it here.

Welcome to our new website. We purchased the villa in 2011 and advertised it on Owners Direct for many years. Unfortunately, in 2016, Owners Direct changed hands and direct contact between owners and guests is now becoming impossible and, as well as owners paying an annual fee to appear on the site, guests are being charged between 6% and 10% on top of their holiday price to book via the site. We hope our new website gives you all the information you need and that you will contact us if you have any questions.
